About the Webinar
Substance use disorders (SUDs) are often viewed as the result of a moral defect, poor parenting, or a lack of willpower. People who use substances may face prejudice and discrimination that affect their ability to access treatment or other resources, and their loved ones may be afraid to talk about their family member’s illness out of fear of being judged or blamed. This training will explore the stigmas surrounding substance use and SUDs by challenging participants’ thoughts and beliefs. Participants will learn about several causes of stigmas and their effects, as well as actions that can immediately be taken to help reduce stigmas and their impact. This is an interactive training with requested (not mandatory) participation from participants.
