The Case for Outsourcing Leave Management

Ever heard of the Bermuda Triangle of Employment Law? That’s what many HR professionals call the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), and workers’ compensation. These laws present HR experts with many logistical challenges, including a seemingly constant stream of new interpretations and applications. That’s why more employers, large and small, are outsourcing leave management services.

Today, one in four employers with 50-plus employees outsources FMLA administration, according to the Disability Management Employer Coalition (DMEC). Its survey also found that employer groups of more than 1,000 employees are seeking help in managing the ADA leave accommodation process.
