Workpartners announces expansion of its Workers Compensation services into Maryland and New Jersey
Unique approach delivers efficiencies and “whole person,” health-focused approach to supporting employers and their workers
PITTSBURGH (June 2, 2021)—UPMC’s Workpartners, a people activation company, today announced that its Workers’ Compensation Group has expanded to offer its unique, holistically focused services to employers in Maryland and New Jersey, in addition to Pennsylvania and Delaware. As part of the Absence portfolio of Workpartners’ integrated, data-driven, person-centric approach to human capital management, the workers’ compensation group brings efficiencies and economies of scale to address companies’ work-related claims.
This major geographic expansion reflects a growing regional demand for competitive workers’ compensation products that are customizable and developed collaboratively with employers and brokers. This collaborative approach helps clients address data conversion, professional claims management of takeover and new claims, case management, physician peer review, strong analytical safety support, safety committee support, medical cost containment, OSHA reporting, and other complementary services.
“Our whole-person, total program approach ultimately supports healthier employees and a healthier bottom line for companies,” said Jeff Swaney, Vice President of Workers’ Compensation for Workpartners. “We’re excited to bring our innovative, holistic approach to Maryland and New Jersey employers looking to bring a progressive, employee-centric, health-focused sensibility to workers’ compensation management.”
Workers’ Compensation is just one part of the Workpartners progressive, holistic approach to human capital management called people activation. It begins with integrating diverse data that braids together productivity measures and health and wellness outcomes that allow companies to understand the needs and behaviors of their employees, individually and as a whole workforce. These insights can then be used to develop or adjust processes, policies, and programs aimed at supporting a happy, productive, healthy workforce.
“Workpartners’ people activation approach to human capital management is unique. Companies generally have a tremendous amount of data – often housed in different departments or with various vendors,” said Workpartners President David Weir. “By integrating this information, companies can more proactively manage their workforce’s health outcomes while also gaining insights into how a workforce’s health and wellness contributes to the broader productivity and success of the business.”
The Workpartners Workers’ Compensation Group has maintained an AM Best Rating of Excellent (A-) for multiple years. AM Best has stated that Workpartners has a “strong reputation as a member of the UPMC Insurance Services Division and carries the UPMC name, which is well recognized in the operating region.”
